About
An AI narrator with a hard rule.
GM Grimoire is built for game masters who run live tables. It watches your Foundry VTT session and narrates the moment something happens — and it was designed, from the first line of code, around one refusal.
Why we'll never generate art
The magic at your table is improvised, so that's what our AI does: it narrates the moment, in the flow of your game. It does not, and will not, make art. No AI tokens, no AI portraits, no AI maps. Every image tied to GM Grimoire is made by a person — and we're building a marketplace so you can commission real artists directly: pay a human, at their price, for work they own and you're proud to put on your table. AI can help you tell the story. It shouldn't replace the people who illustrate it.
This isn't a feature toggle — the engine has no image tools and declines art requests by design. The artist directory is the other half of the same rule: game masters get sent to human artists, at the artist's price, with the artist keeping copyright.
Honest about the AI
Every surface of GM Grimoire says plainly what the AI does and doesn't do. The short version:
- It does narrate live game events (combat, scene activations, party lore), answer rules lookups from an ingested rules corpus, and generate NPCs, encounters, loot, recaps, and session prep when you ask.
- It doesn't generate images of any kind, read GM-only whispers (they never leave your Foundry server), or delete anything in your world — the engine has no delete capability at all.
- It runs hosted — you never supply your own AI API key, and pricing is a flat monthly generation count, not credits or token math.
Questions we get asked a lot live on the FAQ.
Who's building this
GM Grimoire is built by Alchemy Lab — GM-first, in the open about what the AI does, and in beta while real tables shape it. If that sounds like your table, join the waitlist.
